What seven years at SCA taught me

The past 7 years at Surgical Care Affiliates have been an amazing ride. I came to SCA to help set up the QA department for a fairly new development team. It felt so exciting to know we were building something special.

At SCA, I found myself surrounded by people way smarter than me, but also way more kind and in control of their emotions. The things I learned about emotional intelligence and personal development from the leadership team are just as valuable to me as what they taught me how to build with code.

I’d always wanted to learn how to code, and I’ll be forever grateful to Robert Cook, Chase Pritchett , Chris Humphreys , Luke Woodard and Justin Williams for helping me learn. Their belief in me and willingness to help was crucial and their support helped me immensely. SCA also gave me my first job as a software developer, and spent a lot of time and effort helping me progress along and learn how to build complex web applications front to back.

I’m excited to start a new journey on Monday, but will always look back fondly on the time I got to spend with this team. If you ever get a chance to work with the software development team at SCA, jump on it - you won’t regret it.
