Mobile Wars: Ionic Strikes Back — ThunderPlains 2019

Edited excerpts from a live Ionic demo. Watch the linked recording to follow the demonstration.
Getting started with Ionic
In the recording: 0:22–1:06.
I built my app in Ionic version 3 originally, and that was three years ago. The app had a lot of issues. They were kind of under the hood, and we decided to rewrite the app this year in Ionic 4. It was an amazing experience, and I wanted to talk about that here.
Once you have Ionic installed, you can just do ionic start and then the name of what you're wanting to call it. Then you can choose a framework. I'm gonna go with Angular, and then you can choose the template that you want. I'm going to choose Conference.
Getting the app onto the device
In the recording: 1:33–2:08 · 2:44–3:12.
What I want to focus on are the changes. This is where things really change in getting the app onto the device, because it was a pain in the butt before. Cordova, you haven't dealt with it, it was a nightmare. You would get random errors that didn't really make sense.
Before, if you wanted to add an integration or something, you had to do in a config file in an Ionic, and if something went wrong there you had to go through all the Cordova logs to figure out where it choked and what went wrong.
